Translator confusionHi Kwizik
I am a Premium member and really enjoy the Kwizik model of learning, but I also use a number of other apps, books and websites to study French. I also use 2 or 3 Translators to verify my study before committing “pen to paper” but I am getting a bit frustrated with being marked down in Kwizik, when I have picked different phrases from the recognized and popular translators (Reverso, Google, sometimes DeepL). The latest exercise is “a day in my cat Max’s Life.
EG. donner un câlin or faire un câlin? I chose donner - Kwizik said wrong, should be faire.
EG. Nourriture sèche pour chats or aliments secs pour chats - Kwizik said wrong, should be croquettes.
These are just a couple of examples, but I have many more.
My question is therefore, can Kwizik please suggest the best translator app to use, one Kwizik recommends, which will give us the best information so we get things right. Everyone uses translators so it would be handy to have that information.
I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks - Jo
What is the difference between ça et cela ?
Checking a couple of points
Both 'shampoing' and 'shampooing' are formally accepted and used spellings, but the latter is being 'corrected' to the former here.
A 'bottle' of shampoo is mostly advertised and sold as 'un flacon' - ' j'ai fini le flacon ' is not accepted as correct though.

Dans les notes, le prof écrivait plusieurs fois "None of them are ....". En fait, "none" en anglais est une contraction de "not one", si la bonne conjugaison du verbe en anglais serait "None of them is .....".
How do you spell cause de sure
And what about the Negations of the examples given in this lesson? Are these correct for the Negative Imperative with Adverbial Double Pronoun -
With En -
- Ne t'en donnons pas! [Let's not give you any.]
- Ne m’en parle pas! [Don’t tell me about it.]
- Ne nous en parlez pas. [Don't tell us about it.]
With Y -
- Ne m’y emmenez pas! [Don't take me there.]
- Ne t'y amusez pas! [Don't have fun there.]
With Others -
- Ne me les donne pas. [Don't give them to me.]
- Ne nous l'envoie pas. [Don't send it to us.]
I thought it was interesting that it can apparently be correct to blend passé composé and passé simple in the same sentence, according to this supposedly correct Kwiz answer: "Après s'être levé, William alla prendre son douche." Perhaps that is something that should be mentioned/clarified in the pertinent lesson?
Could you please explain the difference between toucher and toucher à? What do they imply?
Please share some examples.
(For e.g., what is difference between - Ne pas toucher à mes clés! & Ne pas toucher mes clés! )
Why is "celle" the correct answer to this
"J'aime ta robe mais je préfère ________ que Laura porte,"
rather than "laquelle"?
Aren't they both pronouns identifying one among others?
Not sure if anyone is gonna read this, but for those that are from countries where a billion means a million million, french uses the word billion as well.
This page confused me a bit since Spanish is my first language and in that language we generally use billion the same way as French, whereas the one thousand million meaning is mostly used in the English speaking world.
