I was wondering, for this question:

why the answer is vieil and not vieux, like from the list on adjectives that go before nouns?

I was surprised to see my use of "cet après-midi" corrected to "cette après-midi". So I looked it up and found that both genders are used for that phrase.

I don't understand when to use these two "en" and "le/la". For example:

La liberté d'expression est un droit fondamental mais il faut ________ respecter les limites.

I know that "en" refers to La liberté d'expression, but why can't we use "la"?
