Guidelines for submitting your own examples

Guidelines for supplying an MP3 recording

1. Please only supply MP3 recordings of your own voice, not someone else's.

2. We only accept recordings of speakers with native accents in the language.

3. MP3 format should be MPEG Audio Layer-3, 44100Hz, 64kbps, stereo

4. We do accept "silent" submissions (with no recording attached).

General Guidelines

1. Examples must be your own creations, not copied from someone's website.

2. See the example in French below to understand the four elements each example needs.

3. Titles (see 1 below) may be nouns, advectives, verbs, adverbs or expressions.

3.1 Verbs should be in the infinitive form (e.g. finir, se promener, etc.)

3.2 If the word is gendered, this should be shown using either articles (e.g. la fourmi) or using a forward slash with no spaces (e.g. elegant/e, or mignon/mignonne) as suitable. If in doubt, look in a dictionary.

4. If the title has more than one meaning, show the two or three most relevant (e.g. cute / sweet) separated by a slash with spaces.

4. Examples must demonstrate the title word or expression you've chosen.

5. You can add a note or a literal translation if necessary after the translation.
