Why is Bitesized free?

We're passionate about what we do (languages and web technology), and so work primarily out of that passion. At some point down the line, we may offer premium services which subscribers will pay a small monthly fee for.  We're also experimenting with running ads on the library zones to see if this works, but we're keen for it not to interfere with the utility of the service.

Will it always be free? Will I have to start paying?

The basic service will always be free, so no, you won't have to pay if you don't want to. The premium services will be more personalised, or more useful. They'll also take much more work to create which is why we'll may charge to cover the costs of creating them. However, the Bitesized principal applies: our prices will be Bitesized too!

What sort of services are coming?

The first priority is to offer more languages. The free service is "cross-level", so the daily emails range from basic through to advanced. The premium services will all be at your chosen level, and will have links to short extra lessons explaining the subtleties of the examples, plus access to other resources on the website. We also want to offer on-line self-study courses, and lots of other fun language learning tools that are in development. All top secret of course!

I have trouble downloading/playing the MP3 links

What happens when you click a link to an MP3 file is controlled by the software on your computer and this can vary a lot. It could be your browser, or if you have media software installed (Windows Media Player / IPod / Quicktime etc.) it's probably one of those trying to handle the file. You'll need to find out which application is 'associated' with the .mp3 file type and work out why it's gone wrong.  Alternatively, if you access emails at work, check that your network allows downloads from our domain.

The information we collect about you is covered by the Data Protection Act, We won't sell it to any third-party and it will only be used to provide the service(s) you've asked for. We may include relevant adverts in on the website and/or in the daily emails but to be perfectly honest our first priority is we want you to enjoy the service, so we're not going to do anything to risk that. We're nice people. We care about things like that and global warming.  We hope you do too.
